Turn Any Widget Into A Sticky Sidebar Widget Or Fixed Widget
There are two ways to create a sticky sidebar which follows the users while they’re scrolling down the page. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how it’s done by using a plugin. If you want me to do a video on how to do it manually, comment below and if there’s enough interested I’ll make it happen.
Sticky sidebars are useful for many things including making an ad follow the user down the page so you know for sure they’ve seen it.
Install The Fixed Sidebar Plugin
Also always, make sure you backup your site before you install a plugin so in case something goes wrong you can restore your site. Here’s a step-by-step backup tutorial:
and here’s a restore tutorial:
With that out of the way, you need to hover over plugins and click on Add New.
Then, look up the q2w3 sticky widget plugin using the search bar.
This is the plugin you’ll need to download and activate. It has lots of installs and great reviews. It may not be compatible with your version of WordPress and that’s why we backup your site just in case.
Install the plugin by clicking on Install Now.
Once installed, click on Activate to start working on your sticky widget creation.
After you’ve activated the plugin, you will see a new menu item under Appearance called Fixed Widget Options. We may not have to change any settings because they are often good how they are.

You saved my life! Thank you! I spent hours finding this tutorial. Thanks!
Works great. Thanks!
Hi guys! I created an open-source JavaScript library for that (~ 1.7 Kb). It is called "sticksy.js"
The library is very helpful if you are developing a WordPress theme or other stuff, and you don't want to include heavy plugins.
It works on any website because it doesn't require any dependencies (even jQuery).

Good luck, guys!
